  do you find it difficult to know what to get for your beloved for christmas?

  (assuming you celebrate it!)..

  my wife says to me "don't get me anything, i'd rather we saved the money to get away next year.".

  Ian - I'll second Fifi's suggestion of a trip to Ragdale Hall - it's the best spa I've ever been to - sheer heaven! Send Claire there in the Summer if you ever go down this route.

  barbara anderson, of tullahoma, a former member of the jehovahs witnesses, was interviewed recently on national television about her allegations that the denominations policies protected church officials and other witness pedophiles who sexually abused children for many years.

  JW's kids must NOT attend nursery school

  i thought that after some 30 years as a jw the wts's teaching is so familiar that i can hardly find anything new in assembly talks, which may be the reason why, as many attendants do, i gently noze down and opening an eye from time to time is enough to catch up the drift of an all too well known talk.

  still, i've been genuinely surprised last sunday by a point a bethel visitor rose in one of the p.m talks, namely that jws are not advised to send their kids to school until an age when he (she) can take a personal stand re.

  xmas, birthdays, etc.

  I don't think most Witnesses will pay the slightest attention to this - they may feel slightly guilty deep down, who knows.
  
  It just isn't practical or realistic.
  
  Nice try WTBTS - let's just hope some add it to the list of things up on that shelf of doubts in a Witness's mind that's getting close to crashing down on top of them.

  Dansk - sorry if you thought my thread was identical to yours - the blonde in me thought it was just about presents for women! :-)
  
  PoppyR's suggestion is my favourite so far, although the last time I tried something like that, it took me about 2 hours to try and get into the item in question!!!!

  is it just me, or has everyone noticed many more lurkers and newbies posting now?

  i have been reading way too much lately, in light of the nbc broadcast, and it seems as if each time i read a new thread, there's someone posting their first post, or third.

  right offhand, i remember leaving-jws, rmcgill_leader, jwdonotcall, confused and lost, xfdwg97, and another post i just read from mom--something or other.

  besty and i are of the opinion that if more people da'd and said they didn't believe in the whole thing, it would send a serious message to jws.

  you wouldn't need to actually criticize the organisation, avoiding the 'apostate' label.

  we know that for many, fading is the only option right now, because of the pain involved in losing friends and family but, surely, if enough people went down this route, then more would have the courage to do the same?

  Oooh R.F. if I had my time again, I'd love to have given a talk and then turned to the audience and said "well that's the last talk you'll hear from me because I don't believe in any of this anymore and I'm not coming back - BYE!"
